When somebody is looking for a job, the first question the employer asks the candidate is how many years of experience do you have. The candidate's salary is usually calculated in relation to the number of years of experience. Furthermore, we are used to assume that the more experience somebody has, the more suitable he or she is for the job. We take that for granted. However, is really the experience what makes the difference?

 
 
 
 

At the beginning of this year Dresscovery was released. The app, that is available in iPhone and Android, allows to identify a purse using a picture of it. In a new line of research, our team is working on an identification system that can be implemented in Google Glass. The new application will allow to obtain information of a garment and buy it online instantaneously.

The app finds the most similar products that are available for sale right now among hundreds of different brands. Dresscovery is an app aimed to be the future driver of online retail growth through the connection of the textile brands online retail business with the real world. The future of internet will rely on the development and integration of visual search engines. Google will make room for a search engine capable of understanding what is happening in an image. The visual search algorithm we developed at Samsamia is able to recognize an image and compare it with a big product database to obtain associated information.

Samsamia at BBVA OpenTalent event in Buenos Aires

We were finalist of BBVA OpenTalent startup contest, among more than 900 startups, which is the most important startup contest in Spain. The bank, which is the one of the biggest financial entities in Europe, wants to promote entrepreneurship by giving 200.000€ in prizes. We are delighted for being among the finalists. The experience was awesome and the friends we met there unforgettable.

On February 2013 Samsamia were selected as one of the twelve winner startups for the acceleration program 2020 for 2020 Startup Madrid. The program is led by a company specialised in startup acceleration, Cink Emprende, with the collaboration of the Economic Development Agency "Madrid Emprende" and a number of experts in representation of Madrid 2020, Madrid Emprende, and Bid sponsors.
