Possibilities of computer vision
Computer vision field has advanced a lot in recent years. We are closer to understanding what is happening in an image.
In that sense, Google Glass will allow interacting with the environment in a completely different way. It will lead to the development of visual search engines, allowing to create hundreds of apps that were impossible before. A visual search engine analyses an image and extracts useful information.
Its applications in different markets are extremely huge. Some examples are product recognition, consumer desire identification, protection against inadequate contents, artwork identification, etc. The future of the Internet will be the development and integration of visual search engines.
Dresscovery, the app that recognizes garments, for Google Glass
Dresscovery, created by a scientist of University Carlos III of Madrid (Robotics Lab) and King’s College London (Thrish's lab), has developed a visual search engine adapted to fashion products, called Fashion Recognition.
Its integration with Google Glass is very easy and they are working to have it available as soon as possible.
The search engine is the brain of Dresscovery app. The app, available for iPhone and Android, allows identifying a purse instantaneously using a picture taken by a smartphone. It finds the most similar products that are available for sale right now among hundreds of different brands. The app will soon include other types of garments.
